Wounded Warriors

Wounded warriors are welcome to this ABC island.

Bonaire's warmth doesn't just come from the constant sun shine, it comes from the hearts of giving generous people as well.

Handicapped diving? Not a problem.

There have been people who came to Bonaire with multiple amputations and still managed to get a Padi open water certificate. These tough as nails, soldiers get the job done!

But they can't do it alone. That's where Bonaire comes in...

For five years now, Bonaire puts together a magical memory for the badly injured war victims of Iraq's and Afghanistan's wars.

The flights, accommodations, dive instruction and certification, food and entertainment, everything that is needed for a spectacular vacation is generously donated by many businesses and ordinary people of Bonaire.

As soon as the war victims step foot on the ABC islands they are greeted with a royal welcome. These soldiers are treated first rate all around. And so they should be...

These soldiers have experienced the sadness that comes from war torn countries. Their bravery has made our world a better place. Unfortunately their experience has left them with life changing physical handicaps.

Captain Don's Habitat has made diving possible for the wounded warriors. With a wheel chair accessible dive boat making water entry and exit with as much ease and comfort as possible. Captain Don's Habitat has also supplied the accommodations and the diving to these soldiers.

Having the warriors as guests of Bonaire is an honor and a priviledge. We look forward to many more soldiers to come.
