Klein Bonaire Dive Sites and Snorkel Areas



A) No Name Beach

Depth 30-100 feet (9-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

This dive lies directly in front of No Name Beach and is the only snorkel dive site that has shore access. There are many friendly hand fed fish here. The sandy bottom is home to sting rays, eagle rays, flounders and goat fish. There are also turtles in the area.This is a great beginner site. One of the most popular Klein Bonaire dive sites because of the rarely seen sandy beach.



B)Ebo's Reef

Depth 40-100 feet (12-30 meters)
Boat

There's a slight current here which keeps this reef diverse and healthy. It's suitable for an intermediate diver. This site, as well as Jerry's Reef are popular for their giant orange elephant ear sponges often topped with black feathery crinoids, also huge colonies of lavender stove pipe sponges that are all teeming with fish. This is a photographers delight.




C) Jerry's Reef/ Jerry's Sponges

Depth 30-100 feet (9-30 meters)

This is a good beginner dive. There is a mild to slight current here. Crinoids, elephant ear sponges and fern-like black coral are also found in deeper water along with a variety of fish. Another great site for underwater photography.



D) Just A Nice Dive

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)

This is another beginner dive with a mild current. Divers will find an abundance of yellow pencil coral and leaf or sheet corals. There are lots of schooling fish at the top of the reef and solitary species, such as ocean triggerfish, are often seen.


E)Nearest Point

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)
Boat or early morning Snorkling

There can be a slight to strong current here. It's best to dive or snorkel in the morning. Nearest Point is a colorful dive with a good example of sponges, corals and sea fans. There is a drop-off full of fish.



G)Bonaventure

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)

On the inner side of the reef dolphins, on occasion, have been spotted hunting in the sand. On the outer sloping wall there is there is star corals and tube sponges. This is a fishy site with cleaning stations in the sea rods. Angelfish will follow you looking for a hand out.




H)Monty's Divi

Depth 15-100 feet (5-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

Marked by a Divi tree that lives on the shore. There are large brain corals with blue chromis. Look for resting Lizardfish and live Sanddollars. The shallow areas have large stands of staghorn coral.


I)Rock Pile

Depth 20-100 feet (6-100 meters)
Boat Snorkel

Originally named for a pile of rocks seen on shore. One of the few sites where one can enjoy a huge colony of staghorn coral. This is a relatively shallow dive that is good for snorkeling as well. A fun dive to explore all the hiding places of fish. This is also a great site for Green Moray Eels and Spotted Eels.


J) Joanne's Sunchi

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

Named after one of Captain Don's past girlfriend Joanne's sunchi (kiss). There are a lot large tube sponges, sea fans and sea plumes. Black Durgons, Tiger Grouper, Tilefish and Creole Wrasse can all be found at this reef.


K) Capt. Don's Reef

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)

A must dive for all levels. Located at the mooring, on the sugary sand, is a plaque dedicated to Bonaire's pioneer diver, Don Stewart, which thanks him for his dedication to the preservation of Bonaire's reefs.


L) South Bay

Depth 30-100 feet (9-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

A beginner dive. This can be a really easy long shallow dive. With sand, smaller fish species and corals in the shallows. Over the drop off you will see the larger fish. Look for Groupers, Horse-eye Jacks and Baraccudas.



M) Hands Off

Depth 30-100 feet (9-30 meters)

An easy beginner dive. Fish come to Hands Off to line up to get cleaned in one of the many cleaning stations this site has to offer.Perfect for macro photography.


N)Forest

Depth 25-100 feet (8-30 meters)

There is a forest of black coral trees that give this site it's name. This is considered the best dive site on Klien Bonaire so make sure you are the first dive boat to get to this site. There is a cave at 75 feet that is sometimes home to a sleeping nurse shark.This is also a great site to see Hawksbill turtles.


O) Southwest Corner

Depth 15-100 feet (5-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

There can be a strong current here which mean great, healthy reef life. This site is frequented by lots of turtles. Divers will be rewarded by an abundance a fish life here.


R) Sharon's Serenity

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

Located on the southwest corner of Klein Bonaire, Sharon's Serenity is also a good snorkeling site, since the reef is close to shore. Elk horn, staghorn, and many varieties of soft coral are plentiful here. This is another favorite site for the Hawksbill turtle.


S) Vallerie's Hill

Depth 30-100 feet(9-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

This site was named after Captain Don's wife Vallerie. A beginner dive. . A slight current is usually present. This is a colorful site with sponges and corals. Turtles are often seen here.



T) Mi Dushi

Depth 25-100 feet (8-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

Mi Dushi means "my sweetheart" in Papiamentu. Look for octopus dens littered with rubble at their enterance. Many smaller reef fish including gobies hang around the tube sponges. Look for seahorses at 50 feet.


V) Carl's Hill

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

This site is named after the underwater photographer Carl Roessler who also is responsible for diving livaboards. There is a vertical wall full of color. At any given spot on the wall there is a photograph waiting to be taken. Take your time goine over the wall as there is a lot to be seen. The wall drops to 75'.


W) Ebo's Special/ Jerry's Jam

Depth 25-100 feet (4-30 meters)

This site is named for Bonaire's first certified diver and one of the first dive guides on Bonaire, Ebo Domacassé. There is a small cave here that is sometimes home to a sleeping nurse shark. Look for cleaning stations here as well.



X) Leonora's Reef

Depth 25-100 feet (8-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

Look for file fish in the sea plumes, lettuce sea slugs and nudibrachs in abundance. This is a sloping reef with coral as old as 75 years. A great site for macro photography.


Y) Knife

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

There is coral rubble and sand in the shallows, look for hermit crabs for a great photo. There are colorful sponges and a varitey of fishes. It's a fairly long walk from No Name Beach but worth it for the snorkeling.


Z) Sampler

Depth 20-100 feet (6-30 meters)
Boat Snorkel

A great beginner dive and snorkel. This site has some friendly angelfish looking to be hand fed. The fish here will often follow you for the duration of your dive. Often turtles at this site. This is also a good site for night diving and good for macro photography. Snorkelers access this site from No Name beach.
