If you’re happy sticking to the tamer southwest coast and are completely captivated and busy with the various sites and sounds of this part of the island, then a car will suit you just fine.
I, however, enjoy bouncing off the roof on the backroads, avoiding wild donkeys, goats, iguanas and other local fauna. The island is small, and much of it can be explored in a day. This is a great opportunity to practice your map-reading skills! Bonaire car rentals has run out of rental vehicles before and trucks are the first to go. -Avoid a potential headache and be sure that you are properly insured. -While the crime rate in Bonaire is low, like anywhere, car break-ins do happen occasionally. Remember not to leave valuables in your vehicle, and don’t bother locking your doors. This will ensure that you avoid broken windows caused by would-be thieves!
