The Bonaire Butterfly Farm

The Bonaire Butterfly Farm is a self-guided walk-through exhibit of flappy animated joy. Come here for a colourful, psychedelic display of 80 species of butterfly from South and Central America.

The butterflies are raised in captivity as part of special rainforest programs. These programs help to preserve rainforests in Central and South America through agreements with farmers to breed butterflies and sell the pupae. This gives the farmers an income-generating alternative to clearing the forests for agriculture while also providing funds for education and reforestation.

The Bonaire Butterfly Farm is tough to miss- just follow the signs on your way to Lac Cai. But be warned...it's a bumpy fifteen minutes off the main road. The exhibit is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM through 5:00 PM. Entrance fee is $12.00 per person for adults, and $8.00 per person for children up to 12 years old. Group rates are available upon request.
