Bonaire's Best Diving Top 5
Bonaire's best of the best, not to be missed, top 5 best diving sites in the Caribbean. In order of greatness...
# 1 The Drift dive from La Dania's Leap to Karpata takes the prize for the best diving. Most of the stunning life can be seen at 20-40 ft. Turtles are a sure thing so keep a look-out! When driving watch for the green painted ying and yang symbol on the road and drop your gear off at the end of the trail to the site. Park your truck at Karpata. The entrance is about a 5 ft. drop but don't let that discourage you- it's really easy.
# 2 Early morning Invisibles. Plan on getting in the water before 7am to catch a glimpse of the eagle rays who frequent this site often. This site is teeming with life, the early morning dive gives you a chance to see the reef frantically waking up. What a site!
# 3 The guided Salt Pier. This is a photographer's dream come true! The afternoon is the best time to catch the sun rays through the pillars.
# 4 Yellow Slave! Never heard of it? That's because it's not in the guide books, difficult to find (since the Yellow slave hut is no longer around) and not marked. Find a guide who will take you to this site and make a mental note of the location for future visits. This reef is in great condition because of the lack of dive traffic.
# 5 The last but certainly not least is Angel City to the Hilma Hooker. This is the best dive to see the double reef system and the wreck that Bonaire is famous for.
