Baggage Allowance
It's always a good idea to check with your airline before your travel date. Prices and carry-on luggage allowance change constantly.
Airlines originating in Europe have the strictest baggage allowances.
KLM
KLM has a 20kg (44lbs) limit. The second piece of baggage up to 20 kg (44 lbs) is a 55.00 Euro charge. Excess weight up to 32kg (70 lbs) is 100.00 Euros.
If your wind or kite surfing equipment is no longer than 200 cm (78 inch) and no heavier than 23 kg (50.5 lbs), it will be regarded as a piece of normal baggage. Excess baggage is only charged for surfing equipment that is longer than 200 cm (78 inch) or heavier than 23 kg (50.5 lbs). You must contact the airline 48 hours in advance to let them know you will be travelling with your surf boards.
Surfing equipment between 200 cm and 300 cm (78 to 118 inch) in length or weighing more than 32 kg (70.5 lbs) will be transported as freight by AIR FRANCE-KLM Cargo at a cost of 200.00 Euros.
