Aruba, Bright Lights Small City
Aruba, the A in the ABC islands, is everything you would imagine a Caribbean island paradise to look, feel and taste like. The island has an energetic atmosphere in a perfect tropical setting. Aruba, the tiniest island of the ABC's, has inexhaustible soft sandy beaches and endless entertainment. Hands down, this island wins the popularity contest between the three islands. Like Bonaire, this hot holiday destination has a stunning record for constant sunshine and reliable trade winds.
The diving is somewhat comparable to Bonaire, although no island can compare to the ease and convienience Bonaire's shore diving has to offer. What Aruba lacks in diving simplicity, they make up for in wreck diving. Wreck diving in Aruba is way better than Bonaire. Aruba has been touted by many to be the wreck diving king of the Caribbean. It holds the record for the largest wreck dive, a mamoth 400 ft. Antillan which gets most divers an hour worth of exploring as it sits in 40-50ft. of water. Most of the diving is from a dive boat. There are some shore diving sites but they can be quite challenging to find. An experienced dive guide is recommended if you prefer shore diving to boat diving.
Aruba utilizes the steady trade winds in the form of windsurfing, kite surfing and land sailing. There are endless activities to satisfy anyones adventurous appetite. But most people come here because it still has the creature comforts of a typical american city in a tropical paradise. This is a well developed metropolitan island with highrises, large resorts, an abundance of casinos, chain restaurants and chain stores galore.
